About My Project
My project addressed children's need for constructive, productive expression. Children living in adverse situations need healthy outlets to express themselves and through art this can be accomplished. As my workshop took place an Aurora elementary school summer camp, I hoped to reach kids who were struggling in some form and introduce to them a different kind of venting and a different kind of art before they have they become older and exposed more, potentially dangerous and destructive forms of expression. Many of the workshop projects focused on introspective reflection and this along with the other lessons presented as projects will encourage them to stay true to themselves in present and the future.

Long Term Goal
The issue of transferring negative situations and emotions into productivity is not only a local problem. Especially in these times of change the world is going through it can be seen that progress happens through positive unifying actions and symbols of solidarity. Art is a universal language, a pieces meaning can be understood not matter whet language you speak and no matter what background you come from. In teaching the benefits of constructive expression early to kids, destructive expression through actions and other means could be lessened or even extinguished.
